Annika, born in South America and raised in Sweden, is a multilingual jazz singer and song writer with a natural talent. She brings a special blend of Scandinavian charm and Latin flavour to her performances and is making a name for herself on the jazz scene as a vibrant and soulful singer with a playful stage presence.
Annika currently leads 3 ensembles – A.S.Q. (The Annika Skoogh Quartet), Orpheus(6 piece Brazilian/Latin band with Martin Jenkins) and her latest project, A Tribute to Anita O’Day. In addition to the aforementioned projects, Annika is also involved in various 6 to 10 piece function bands, Solar and Blue Lion Band to name but a few and can furthermore be seen performing regularly with her jazz duos and trios locally in Devon and Cornwall.
Appearances; Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Marlborough International Jazz Festival, The Bristol Harbour Festival, St Ives Jazz Club, Plymouth Barbican International Jazz & Blues Festival, The International Duke Ellington Festival London, Teignmouth Jazz Festival, Bude Jazz Festival, Dartmouth Music Festival, Ilminster Art Centre, The Pound Arts Centre, CICCIC Art Centre, Swinging Unlimited Jazz Club, The Beaver Inn Appledore, Speakeasy Jazz Club as well as many other festivals, jazz clubs, hotels, restaurants and pubs throughout the Southwest and beyond.
Highlights; The International Duke Ellington Festival in London singing with Buster Cooper and Art Barton (Art Barton has performed with Buddy Rich, Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen) former members of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Singing with the legendary Kathy Stobart (Kathy Stobart performed regularly with the late Art Pepper and Humphrey Lyttelton). Performing for MP Ben Bradshaw at his birthday party by special request.
